Alright everyone! Been thinking about this a lot lately with so many new people jumping into affiliate marketing. What do you all think are the ABSOLUTE biggest mistakes newbies make? I've seen a few common ones that REALLY hurt progress:
  1. NOT being patient! Expecting overnight riches is a recipe for disaster.
  2. Ignoring QUALITY content and just spamming links. SEO is KEY!
  3. Jumping from niche to niche without giving one a real shot.
  4. Forgetting about conversion optimization! Track EVERYTHING!
What's YOUR top mistake you see? Or one YOU made when starting out? Let's discuss!!

Totally agree with all of these points... patience is absolutely huge. What I often see, and it really ties into the quality content discussion, is people completely overlooking their technical SEO from day one... or just not setting up proper analytics. You can write the best casino reviews, but if Google struggles to crawl your site, or you have no idea where users are dropping off, it is like shouting into the void... a massive blunder, especially as sites grow.

Absolutely, patience is critical. I've seen firsthand how many new affiliates in the iGaming space abandon potentially lucrative projects simply because they didn't see immediate returns (which is rarely the case, let's be honest). Building true domain authority and trust, especially for high-value gambling keywords, takes sustained effort. It's a long game for consistent monetization.

Patience is absolutely key, couldn't agree more there, and content quality is non-negotiable for long-term success, especially with how tight SEO is getting. But I sometimes wonder if jumping niches is always a 'blunder.' Sometimes, a market just dries up, or a specific betting offer stops converting, and pivoting quickly can save a lot of wasted effort (speaking from experience, had a whole site focused on a specific game that just vanished). Adaptability can be a strength too. Btw, not sure if anyone caught the news, but they're tightening up on affiliate disclosure requirements for some offshore casinos again, starting Q3 this year. Could impact a few smaller players.

Good points raised here... especially the impatience and ignoring quality content. I see many new affiliates still trying to game the system with low-effort content, even with all the AI advancements making quality easier to produce. That conversion optimization point is crucial too; many just focus on traffic, not what happens next. With the increasing competition in the iGaming space, how are others adapting their CRO strategies, particularly with privacy changes impacting tracking?
